Finding a civil surgeon should not be the hard part of your green card

USCISMD is an independent directory built for one job: helping people find a USCIS designated civil surgeon for the immigration medical exam, without guesswork, dead phone numbers, or a dozen browser tabs.

Why we built this

The exam is simple. Finding the right doctor is not.

Almost every green card applicant needs an immigration medical exam recorded on Form I-693. The exam itself is routine. The frustrating part is everything before it.

Only a physician holding a USCIS civil surgeon designation can complete and sign that form, and your regular doctor almost certainly cannot. So applicants end up calling clinics that no longer offer the exam, driving to offices that closed, or paying far more than the practice down the road charges, all while a filing deadline sits in the back of their mind.

We built USCISMD to put that information in one place: who is designated, where they are, what languages they speak, and roughly what to expect on price. No account required, no fee to look.

"Which doctors near me can actually sign Form I-693, and what will it cost?"
That question has a simple answer, and it should not take an afternoon of phone calls to get it. That is the whole reason this directory exists.
What guides us

How we approach this

An immigration filing is stressful enough. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

🔍

Accuracy over volume

We would rather list fewer providers and have them be right than pad the directory with numbers that do not answer. Wrong details get corrected as soon as they are reported.

🗣️

Plain, honest language

No inflated promises about speed or cost, and no pretending to be something we are not. Where the answer is "it depends on the provider", we say so.

🌐

Language matters

A medical exam in a language you are not comfortable in is harder than it needs to be. We record the languages each practice speaks because for many applicants it is the deciding factor.

How it works

How listings get into the directory

Every listing goes through the same path, whether a physician submits it or we add it while building out a new area.

1

A practice is submitted or identified

Physicians can request a listing through our contact page, and we also build out coverage city by city as we expand into a new state.

2

We check the designation

Before publishing, we check the practice against publicly available USCIS records. If we cannot confirm a current civil surgeon designation, the listing does not go live.

3

Details are added for real decisions

Location, languages spoken, availability and pricing where the practice shares it. These are the details applicants actually compare on.

4

Readers keep it honest

When someone reports a closed office or a wrong number, we verify and update it. Physicians can ask us to change or remove their listing at any time.

Where we are now

States we currently cover

We are building this state by state rather than claiming national coverage we cannot stand behind. These are live today.

More states are being added. If your state is not here yet and you need help finding a civil surgeon, tell us where you are and we will point you in the right direction.

Being clear

What USCISMD is, and what it is not

People arrive here mid-application and under pressure, so it matters that this is unambiguous.

What we are

  • ✔An independent directory of USCIS designated civil surgeons
  • ✔A free resource for applicants, with no account needed to search

  • ✔A listing platform physicians can join and control

What we are not

  • ✖USCIS, or affiliated with any government agency
  • ✖A law firm, and nothing here is legal advice
  • ✖A medical provider, and nothing here is medical advice
  • ✖Able to access, check or influence your immigration case
Beyond the directory

Virtual pre-consult

Not everyone lives near a civil surgeon. For applicants who want to walk in prepared, we offer an online pre-consult that reviews your documents and vaccination records and explains exactly what will happen, so the in person visit is quick.

Learn about the pre-consult →

A civil surgeon must still examine you in person and physically sign Form I-693. The pre-consult prepares you; it does not replace the required exam.

Why practices list with us

If you hold a civil surgeon designation, applicants in your city are already searching for exactly what you offer.

📍

Found by the right patients

People reaching these pages are not browsing. They need a Form I-693 exam and are choosing where to book it.

✍️

You control the details

Hours, languages, pricing and contact information are yours to set, update or remove whenever you need.

🆓

Free while we grow

There is no listing fee today. We would rather build a directory worth trusting than monetise it early.

FAQ

Questions about USCISMD

No. USCISMD is an independent directory and has no affiliation with USCIS or any government agency. We do not process applications, hold case files, or speak for USCIS. Always verify a physician's current designation before your appointment.

Yes. Searching the directory is free and does not require an account. Any fee you pay goes to the physician for the exam itself, not to us.

Every practice is checked against publicly available USCIS records before its listing goes live. If we cannot confirm a current designation, we do not publish it. Designations can change, so we still recommend confirming when you call to book.

Price ranges reflect what practices commonly charge, and they are a general guide rather than a quote. Each physician sets their own fee, and vaccines or lab tests are usually billed separately. Always ask for an all inclusive quote before booking.

Because verifying listings properly takes time, and we would rather do a state well than claim national coverage we cannot back up. New states are added as we complete them.

Use our contact form and paste the page link. Reports from readers are one of the main ways we keep the directory accurate, and we act on them quickly.

No. We cannot give legal or medical advice, check your case status, or complete any part of Form I-693. For case questions, contact USCIS directly or speak with a qualified immigration attorney.
